This is the main drive unit inside the DorRoller 45 operator — and unlike earlier generic parts, this one does have clear system-level specs from Dortech.
The DorRoller 45 uses:
A 24V DC (system-controlled) geared motor integrated into the operator housing
Even though the unit is powered from 230V AC mains, the motor itself operates via the 24V DC control system inside the machine.
Official motor specifications
From the DorRoller 45 system:
- Motor power: 200W
- Drive force: 450 N
- Speed: ~200 mm/sec
- Control voltage: 24V DC
- Supply input (system): 230V AC
These define the internal motor’s real performance — not just theory.
Electrical characteristics
Power architecture
- 230V AC → transformer/PSU
- Converted to → 24V DC system
- Feeds → motor via control PCB
Motor behaviour
- DC polarity switching
- Forward polarity → open
- Reverse polarity → close
Typical current draw (derived)
- ~200W / 24V ≈ 8–10A under load
This is why:
- Heavy wiring and PCB drivers are required
How it works in the system
Mechanical design
Motor type
- Brushed DC motor (standard for this class)
Gear system
- Integrated reduction gearbox
- Required to achieve:
Drive connection
- Directly coupled to:
- Roller drum/shaft (roll-up door)
Performance characteristics
Lifting capacity
Speed profile
- Controlled electronically:
- Soft start
- Constant speed
- Soft stop
Noise
- Designed to be:
- Quiet operation (feature listed by Dortech)
Battery operation (important)
Optional system feature:
Because the motor is DC:
- It can run directly off battery during power failure
- No inverter required
Protection & control
The motor is protected by the PCB via:
Electronic protection
- Overcurrent detection
- Obstacle sensing (via RPM/load feedback)
- Auto-reverse
Thermal protection
Common failure symptoms
Motor failure
- No movement at all
- Humming or clicking only
- Burning smell
Gearbox failure
- Motor runs but:
- Grinding noise
Weak motor
- Door struggles to lift
- Slower than normal
Replacement reality
This is a model-integrated motor
- Not a universal loose motor
- Usually replaced as:
- Motor + gearbox assembly
- Or full head unit
Important:
- Must match:
- 24V system
- Control PCB
- RPM/limit system
