A DoorEdge controller is:
A signal processing and safety monitoring unit that connects the safety edge (door edge sensor) to the main door control panel, ensuring correct operation and fail-safe response.
In simple terms:
- The safety edge = sensor
- The DoorEdge controller = “brain” that interprets that sensor
Core Function
The DoorEdge controller sits between:
- Safety edge (optical or conductive)
- Main control unit (e.g. CS series)
It performs 3 critical tasks:
Signal evaluation
- Monitors the safety edge signal continuously
- Detects:
- Compression (activation)
- Faults (broken cable, short circuit)
Safety logic processing
- Converts the edge signal into a safe control signal
- Ensures:
- Immediate stop
- Or reversal of the door
Fail-safe monitoring
- If anything goes wrong:
- Cable break
- Power loss
- Sensor fault
Technical Specifications Electrical
- Supply voltage:
- 12–24V AC/DC (from control panel)
- Current consumption:
The controller forces the system into a safe state (door stops / won’t close)
