Marantec Industrial Emergency Hand Chain (AC / KE)

R75.00

The Marantec Industrial Emergency Hand Chain (KE) is a manual emergency operating system integrated into industrial door operators, allowing manual opening and closing of doors during power failure or maintenance.

It is specifically used with:

  • AC industrial operators (STA / STAC series)
  • Sectional and roller shutter doors
  • Systems with 25.4 mm hollow shaft drives

The system enables safe ground-level operation via a looped chain mechanism, ensuring continued access even when electrical operation is unavailable.

Key Features

  • Manual emergency operation (KE = “Kettenbetrieb”)
  • Suitable for AC industrial door operators
  • Allows ground-level control via hand chain loop
  • Can be combined with:
    • Maintenance release (E/KE)
    • Emergency release systems
  • Designed for spring-balanced and industrial doors
  • Robust mechanical construction for heavy-duty use

Technical Specifications

(Consolidated from Marantec AC/STA operator systems)

Specification Details
Product type Emergency hand chain system (KE)
Application Industrial sectional & roller shutter doors
Compatibility Marantec AC operators (STA / STAC series)
Shaft size Standard 25.4 mm hollow shaft
Operation method Continuous loop chain (manual pull)
Mounting Integrated on operator gearbox
Function Manual opening/closing during power loss
Variants KE (standard), E/KE (with maintenance release)
Chain length Typically 4 m–6 m (installation dependent)
Materials Steel chain + metal gearbox components
Duty Industrial / heavy-duty cycle

How It Works

  • The operator includes a chain wheel mechanism
  • A looped hand chain hangs down to operator level
  • Pulling the chain:
    • Engages manual drive
    • Rotates the operator shaft
    • Opens or closes the door

This allows full mechanical control without electricity.

KE vs E/KE (Important Distinction)

Type Function
KE Standard emergency hand chain operation
E/KE Hand chain + maintenance release (disconnects motor for servicing)
  • E/KE is more advanced, allowing servicing without removing the motor
  • KE is the basic, widely used configuration

Typical Applications

  • Warehouses
  • Industrial facilities
  • Loading bays
  • Commercial sectional doors
  • Roller shutter systems

Used where:

  • Frequent operation is required
  • Emergency access is critical

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensures safe operation during power outages
  • Prevents forced entry or damage during failures
  • Must be:
    • Properly installed at reachable height
    • Maintained for smooth operation
  • Often required in industrial safety standards

System Integration

The emergency hand chain is typically supplied:

  • As part of a complete Marantec operator system, or
  • As a configured option when ordering (KE / E-KE variants)

It integrates with:

  • Limit switch systems (AWG / MEC)
  • Control units (CS series)
  • Safety accessories (photocells, edges)
